Week 03 - Entry 03
I believe that the rules element as well as the constraint tool were the most relevant to our design. Without being able to put limits on players abilities, we would have ran into issues such as staying besides one chair throughout the game, as well as moving chairs with themselves or staying around the same area. We put specific rules in play to combat these simple, yet game changing decisions and I believe it worked extremely well. If I were to revise the game using tools or elements I would choose to add more goals. At the moment the only way to win is to be the last person in a chair, which makes it somewhat random. You could have other achievements available to the players, so that one person may choose what goal or end point they want to play towards. This would add a new level of competitiveness to the game without taking away from the original idea.
Most of the class feedback seemed to be positive and I believe the game is at a good point on its own. One point of feedback that seemed popular was adding more rules to eliminate players through mistakes, such as stopping to early for the music or finding the wrong number of people. If the players stop before the music truly ends (such as on a pause in the song), or they just jump in a chair too early, they will automatically be eliminated. I believe adding these penalties to mistakes could make the game a lot more interesting and suspenseful, which is what we were going for.
